Firstly, I feel compelled to take a moment and comment on your use of English. I find it hard to let your poor use of grammar (even including childish mistakes like using "your in place of "you're") pass after you accused me of using words I did not understand. Your syntax is also very poorly constructed at times. (Are you actually trying to be a writer? I have a much higher standard of written English than you and I still wouldn't consider myself to be truly capable of professional writing at this point in my life....)

Anyway, the matter in hand, DeviantART.

Before I actually reply to the bulk of your message I’d like to point out that you’re being somewhat blind and hypocritical when you accuse me of jumping into an issue which I do not understand and making blunt and ill founded statements. I say this because you have mo idea of MY history and you have no idea how long I may have been watching you for. Do not assume that this account is the be-all and end-all of my deviant elated experience. It is safe for me to say that I know much more about you than you know about me.


Now, I’m not exactly sure why you repeatedly tell me that I have some special affection for the deviant community, because I’m almost 100% certain that I never made any such statements myself. I can only assume that you’re taking my criticisms of you to be support for Deviant itself. That’s understandable transference on your part, I know. And almost anyone in your position would make the same mistake.

But let me make this clear, just because I do not find your petty and attention-seeking efforts against deviant to be immature and void of artistic value that does not mean that I view DeviantART as a worthy and philanthropic community. Indeed, I agree with more than one of the points you made in reference to the corporate element that has been growing here lately.

However, that does not change the fact that I find your actions in whiting-out your images and posting the journal entry about leaving the site to be both pathetic and extremely lacking in either politic or artistic value. Your points could have been made in any number of better ways and as I have said before, the course you opted for makes you look highly narcissistic and pretentious.

I could not care less if you choose to post your artwork on this site. After taking a brief review of your gallery it appears to me that you’re yet another of the camera-whore girls who litter every corner of this site. Your success in terms of page views is apparently thanks (in large part) to the fact that you are (in many people’s eyes, not my own) more attractive than the average camera whore.

What you have basically done is to throw a pathetic and childish tantrum.

“OH MY GOD THIS PLACE SUCKS. I’M TOO GOOD FOR THIS NOW. YOU’LL HAVE TO LOOK AT MY PRETTY BODY THROUGH A WHITE FOG OR ELSE GO TO MY SITE.”

Who gives a shit?


I know you’re probably thinking “but that’s NOT it AT ALL, the reason I took my art down like that is because Deviant is dry raping me” (I find your repeated “fucked up the ass dry” comments to be very American and highly amusing by the way) and I know that you probably think “I’m making a difference by leaving” but that’s also nonsense. There’re PLENTY of more respected artists than yourself on this site. Much, MUCH bigger names such as seafairy or foureyee, who actually make a living from their art are perfectly happy to stay, probably because they realise that this IS a good place to get yourself seen by many people and by and large, the corporate side of Deviant is mostly benign. These are people who would actually be missed if they were to leave.

There’s a whole lot more I could say to you, but I don’t actually have the time right now and it just struck me that I’m spending 5 minutes of my life trying to make a self-absorbed little American girl wake up and realise that she’s not all that. And that’s a pretty hopeless endeavour, I think.

Good luck in life. And remember, the inability to take criticism reflects an inability to reason.

Go away and read a little before you shove your foot so far down your own throat you make yourself gag. I've visited DA four times this year, I'm here only for my friends and in wait for things to change the privacy policy. This "community" you love so much has nothing to do with my decision on leaving. You weren't here in the beginning, you have no idea who I am or where my art came from or why I was here to start with. It's over now. And you'll never know. Your talking about things you don't understand or actually have a full working knowledge of the history is an embarrassment to your precious community.

You go a head and actually read (yes that little thing called "read") the submission agreement and give your artwork away claiming that this is "nothing but a community". You forgot, you're paying for your time here, guess what that makes this "precious community" of yours. A working business. Not a pretty little community that suckles you in its loving arms.
In the end, you paid for it all. Including giving them all of your artwork for free. Now, you enjoy being fucked up the ass dry, your just the type that would - but for me... yeah, I'm too good for that and I'm damn proud that I'm not like you and go a head and let them give it to me. Instead, I stood up and went "hold on one second... I don't think I like being fucked up the ass dry!" instead of saying, "no, no! I trust deviantart, I actually like it when they fuck me up the ass dry! Actually I'll just pretend it's not happening and find ways and words like "community" to lash out at anyone who dare say otherwise!"

Now, why don't we talk about whose really the laughable party here?

If you haven't noticed things are beginning to change around here. People have left and people are leaving for the same reasons that I have. There are many professional artists here (sadly not including most of the people on DA - like you) that are making a difference by speaking out and leaving -so DA has begun to change for the professionals here who can't afford to sign their lives away. Like me.

Oh, and by the way, I don't have time for those who can't seem to imagine a world outside a figment like Deviantart. So don't expect a "quick" reply to your expectedly sad "retort" - I don't come around very often.

You're saying I'm the attention whore? Excuse me Miss "I'm too good for DA", but that's utterly laughable.

Do you actually know what this place is about? It's a community, designed for sharing art with other people and receiving feedback about how you might improve yourself and your work. It's not actually meant to be a little clique-type gallery for narcissistic ego-masturbation where you take a million pictures of your lovely body for people to stare in awe at and worship you.

By whiting-out your pictures in the way that you did, you're saying "Look, I'm not here to share. I'm not here to listen. I'm just here to show you my wonderful art."

If you're so fucking worried about people stealing your copyright then don't post them here at all. Keep your photos of yourself locked up in a little metal box and keep it under your bed. That way no one will possibly be able to infringe your rights. (see; the tale of the dog in the manger)

p.s.; Your snide little dig about using words that I do not understand was throughly contemptuous. after all, you are an American, and therefore cannot even spell.
